New year, new you – often it’s easier said than done.
But by making the new year an opportunity to reset and rethink your fitness and wellbeing, you could be getting 2018 off to a flying start.
Set a fitness goal
Instead of aimlessly exercising or yo-yo dieting, why not take on a new challenge. Make sure it’s something meaningful to you, that way you’ll be more likely to stay on track.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to be able to do push-ups on your toes, nail a pull-up or run a marathon. If so, work out how to achieve your goal and get cracking!
Get a workout buddy
If you’re lacking in motivation, it’s time to get a gym buddy. Not only will they encourage you to get your butt down to the gym, but you’ll find you work a lot harder once you do.
If you can’t think of anybody who fits the bill, then try team training – by getting to know a group of people who you work out with, you get the benefits of a gym buddy with added flexibility.
Clean up your diet
The festive season is a time of serious excess so now’s the time to get back into those good habits.
Try cutting out alcohol and sugar to give your body a much-needed reboot.
Try something new
If you have struggled to maintain a health and fitness routine in the past, perhaps it’s time to shake things up.
Bored by the treadmill? Then, give it a miss. Tackle a weights session, try a new sport or give a class a go. There’s something out there for everyone.
Thinking out of the box is character building after all.
Think positive
Ditch the New Years resolutions – so often these are just a recipe for failure. Instead, simply embrace a positive outlook and try and focus on feeling good rather than beating yourself up whenever you hit a hurdle.
Even if you don’t believe in the laws of attraction, simply being upbeat is good for your general wellbeing – give it a try!
